Old Hall School has appointed a new headteacher as it prepares for future expansion in 2022. Anna Karacan has been appointed to take over from current headteacher Martin Stott who will be leaving in July after 15 years at the helm of the Old Hall School in Wellington.
Currently deputy head of Kellet School in Hong Kong Mrs Karacan was also instrumental in setting up Harrow Prep School in Hong Kong and will be the first female head in the Trusts 150 year history.
She has worked in both the state and private sector having studied at Manchester University and is now completing a MA at Keele University.
In a competitive field of more than 100 applicants, Anna stood out as the best candidate for this position, according to Richard Pearson, chairman of the governors at the Wrekin and Old Hall Trust.
According to Mr. Pearson, the selection of Mrs. Karacan was made after a final evaluation of the three strongest prospects.
The relocation also signifies Anna's return to Shropshire, where she attended Wrekin College and will now live alongside her husband and two daughters.
"I am overjoyed to have been named the next Head of Old Hall; it feels like coming home," she exclaimed.
In a letter to parents early this school year, Stott stated that he had decided it was the perfect time to retire.
