Country Kids Day Nursery

Skills , Knowledge and Behavior: Children develop their physical skills as they test out new ways of moving in the space outdoors.

Communication: Parents share information about their child with the key person who greets them at the door. Staff tell the parents about what is set up in the nursery and what their child will be learning that day.

Community Building: At the end of the morning session, toddlers and pre-school children sit together and the staff encourage them to talk about what they have enjoyed playing with and why.

Programs and Resources: This includes children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and children who speak English as an additional language.

Staff Training: The special educational needs coordinator spoke to the inspector about how they support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Welcoming and Professional Staff: Staff bend down to children's level to talk to them and welcome them in.

Safeguarding Training: Staff have completed paediatric first-aid training. This supports staff to respond appropriately when an accident occurs.

Play and Learning Integration: Children's communication and language are promoted well. Staff read stories and use Makaton.

Transition to Primary School: Older children get themselves ready to go outside, changing from their slippers to shoes. At lunchtime, older children choose and serve their own food.

Diversity Management: Staff understand how this fits into children's next stages of learning and adapt their practice to support children's individual needs.

Child Safety Management: Leaders, managers and staff review areas in the nursery to maintain safety, and change them where necessary to prevent accidents from occurring.

Children's Safety and Security: Children feel safe and secure. They confidently leave their parents and enter the nursery.

Teaching Personal Safety: Children develop their independence and manage their own risks. Before going outside, older children check if it is safe.

Happiness and Settling: Children arrive at the nursery happy. Staff tell the parents about what is set up in the nursery and what their child will be learning that day.
