From the Community Kids
We provide a variety of options for all kids to explore, grow, and get ready for school here at Community Kids.
Being in the midpoint of the preschool age range, the 3-year-olds can interact with both the younger and older ages.
For the 4-year-olds, youngsters who will soon enter kindergarten, Rising 4s, we focus on those crucial hand and finger muscles by doing Funky Fingers, where they participate in activities like using tweezers to catch the pompom, dough gym (play dough to music), threading, and exercises for gross and fine motor skills.
The finger muscles can be tested when dressing and undressing.
This supports the kids' transitions by helping them get used to and feel at home in the school setting.
In addition, we now provide hot meals for the kids, which are provided by the nearby Sexeys School. If you'd rather, you can also send your child with a packed lunch.
For kids ages 2 to 11, we also offer an after-school programme and a breakfast club.
In the summer session, if the weather is fine, we stay on the school field to allow them run off some steam after a long day. We pick them up from Bruton Primary School and bring them back to Community Kids.
We offer a two-hour Forest School session on Wednesdays from 9.30 to 11.30 in the schoolyard, which is led by Bruton resident Kate Hathway.
The swimming pool at the elementary school next door is where the Rising 4s' water confidence lessons take place during the summer semester.
We have a close relationship with the elementary school, and during playtime we are allowed to utilise the climbing frame, run around the track, and enjoy the school field.
