Christ Church

A Methodist church and a United Reformed church that had been separate for some time came united to establish Christ Church. An Elders Council chosen by church members and a Church Meeting are responsible for running the Church. The Elders Council meets approximately every six weeks to discuss matters such as finances, the centre, cafe, pastoral problems, worship, and facility rentals. At these meetings, reports are presented and decisions are made. After morning worship, the Church Meeting is held three times a year. All church members are invited, and attendance is required as part of membership responsibilities. Other committees include those for pastoral, worship, property, and development of the Bread of Life Cafe and Fair Trade Center. We hold to the belief that God has been made known to us via his Son, Jesus Christ, the written Word, and the work of the Holy Spirit. Be a location where all are welcome to come and worship with us. Encourage and instruct those who want to know and follow Christ in their religion by providing Christian guidance. Give members, friends, and their families your leadership, your love, and your support. Including the neighbourhood in our church work, social events, and prayer. fostering justice, peace, fairness, and the integrity of creation in our neighbourhood and, to the extent feasible, in the larger globe. David Markay, our minister, is a rabbi. Herne Hill United Church, our sister congregation. Christ Church is a part of the Methodist Church's London District and the Southwark and Deptford Methodist Circuit. The Churches Together in South Southwark is a group that we belong to. We belong to Churches Together in Deptford and Southwark.
