From the Busy Bees Pre-School
The Bushmead Community Centre, built in 1990 to serve as a focal point for the brand-new estate being built at the base of Bradgers and Warden Hills, is a flourishing centre for the Bushmead estate and larger catchment area of Barnfield Ward.
The future of the Center became dubious in the spring of 2016, since the local government was experiencing mounting financial difficulties.
At this point, a group of neighbourhood volunteers was formed to put out a proposal for community control of the Center.
They want to continue offering the services now provided by the NHS facility, the preschool, and the other community organisations that offer well-liked and much-appreciated options for leisure, education, and exercise.
The Bushmead Community Hub was created as a result of the group's success and the establishment of a charity trust to manage the facility.
We will give the Center new life and show that it can be administered as a viable, valued community resource through a combination of partnership working, volunteer participation, and a clear knowledge of residents' needs.
