Boomerang Club

Activities: Children use their named equipment for drawing and writing. They engage well in these activities and talk together about their pictures.

Skills , Knowledge and Behavior: Children are able to negotiate and problem solve for themselves. During racing games, they discuss roles and rules.

Communication: Parents say that when they arrive to collect their children they are always highly engaged in activities and are reluctant to leave until they have finished.

Welcoming and Professional Staff: Children form close, trusting relationships with staff, who are warm, friendly and approachable. Staff treat all children with respect and give them time to express their views.

Safeguarding Training: All staff know how to swiftly make referrals both within the setting and to relevant agencies. They complete safeguarding training through induction and at regular intervals.

Play and Learning Integration: Children are encouraged to develop healthy lifestyles. They use their named equipment for drawing and writing, and they enjoy the fresh air and physical activities outdoors.

Transition to Primary School: Partnerships with the host school are strong. The youngest children are brought to the club by the same members of staff each day.

Diversity Management: A regular children's forum meeting is held where children can discuss ideas and formulate plans. In the past, these have led to themed weeks where children learn about each other's cultures and families.

Child Safety Management: Staff talk about how they risk assess all activities in line with COVID-19 regulations to help them keep children safe and well.

Children's Safety and Security: Children are happy and excited as they arrive at the club after school. They stay within their designated 'bubbles' and know the routines in place due to the pandemic.

Teaching Personal Safety: Children know what staff expect of them, such as to wash their hands before entering the club, in order to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.

Happiness and Settling: Children are happy and excited as they arrive at the club, they play well together and develop strong friendships within their peer groups.

Nutritional Menu: Children enjoy healthy snacks consisting of fruit and rice cakes and they always have their own bottle of water with them.
