Bookworms Day Care Ltd

Blackheath Library used to be housed in the Bookworms Day Care facility before being moved to its current home in Blackheath High Street. The library was vacant for a while before Heidi (director of Bookworms) bought it and converted it into the nursery it is now. The structure was constructed in 1903 to serve as a library for the people of Rowley Regis and Blackheath. Known American industrialist Andrew Carneige gave money to the locals so they could establish the library. The Library served as a place to learn and explore for more than a century before a new, multimillion dollar library on the high street opened recently. Our goal is to turn the library into a nursery so that future generations of Rowley kids can continue to read and learn, realising Andrew Carnegie's original intention. Our goal is to finish the building's renovation and restore it to its former splendour over the next few years. Sadly, since it closed, it has deteriorated badly, with all of the lead from the roof stolen by thieves and some of the ceilings caved in. After finishing the roof repairs, we turned our attention to the interior of the building, doing all possible to maintain the structure's integrity and original features. I'm hoping the neighbourhood will support the new nursery and give us the resources we need to carry out the project for the ensuing years.
