From the Batford Nursery School
Batford Nursery School is my second home. I came here as a teacher in 2008, was Deputy Head from 2012 to 2017 and, since January 2018, it has been my privilege to be Headteacher. We are so lucky to have a well-resourced school in a fabulous setting - our outdoor space is the envy of many nursery schools - and we aim for Batford Nursery School to be your children's home from home, a place where they feel safe and nurtured. Your children's wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do and we share your aspirations for them to become happy and confident young people.
All of the governors and staff - teachers, early years practitioners ... and administrators - are passionate about nursery education and we work in the knowledge that the foundations we lay today will have an impact on the children's lifelong learning journey. It is a huge responsibility, but how exciting to know that we are planting seeds for the next generation's engineers, care workers, teachers, train drivers ... !!!
Our goal is for the children to experience awe and wonder every day as they learn about themselves and the world around them. We plan a creative, challenging and relevant curriculum, with learning opportunities in every play activity. Core learning is enriched by our forest school provision, yoga for all and mindfulness training. Your children can expect an individualised programme of learning so that all will make progress. We greatly value the collaboration we have with parents - you are a part of the Batford family too - and, together, we will always have an eye on your child's next steps.
When it is time to move on, we have great relationships with all of the local primary schools and make every effort to ensure a good transition for the children.
