Children are given a well-rounded art education in art-K, including sketching, painting, and 3D modelling. The atmosphere at our art classes is supportive, welcoming, and non-competitive. This enables each learner to progress at their own rate while honing their own set of skills. Our pupils develop greatly over time in terms of creativity, expressiveness, and self-assurance. Their perspective of themselves and how others see them may both shift as a result of this confidence.
Kathryn practised art her whole childhood, sketching on every piece of paper she could get her hands on. She also wanted to have a career working with children, leading her to pursue Speech and Language Therapy at University (although some of her University interviewers were a bit taken aback when Kathryn asked if there was an art option during the course!).
At art-K Greenwich, Layla is the art assistant featured in this month's teacher spotlight. She originally joined our first art-K branch as a student, and she later came back as an assistant in 2017 because she wanted to keep interacting with our programme and students. She told us about her educational experience and how it had aided her in reaching her current position.
