PTA - Champions PTA Carlinghow Princess Royal School We consist of parents, grandparents, friends and children who want to help and fundraise for the children of Carlinghow School. Everyone is welcome to come along to a PTA meeting to put their ideas forward and help out at events. We are a friendly group who would welcome new people to join us. We enjoy what we do, we have a great friendship with the school and love seeing the children's faces when we do events i.e. discos, secret trolleys, gala days etc We look forward to making new friendships M Crossley Vice Chair 2018 2019 Another successful year! We had a fantastic year and this is all down to the parents, carers and staff that willingly gave up their time to help support their children and the school. Without volunteers the children wouldn't be able to experience things throughout the year. Halloween Disco Our first event of the year was the Halloween disco in October. We ran both discos from 4 pm 5 pm and the children (and the staff!) had a great time. The children had made a great effort at getting dressed up and danced and played games and genuinely had fun. Prizes were awarded for games and also for the best dressed. We also held a tuck shop in both discos. Thank you to all the PTA and staff that helped at the discos. I am sure we will be holding this event again this year so if you would like to help and join in the fun please let Alison in the office know. Further details will be announced later this term. Christmas Books Christmas is a busy time for the PTA members but we had fun shopping and wrapping!! If you would like to come and have a coffee and a laugh whilst wrapping lots of gifts please let Alison know in the office. The PTA provided the gifts from Santa. We bought and wrapped over 300 books! Hopefully we will be doing this event again so if you would like to help us wrap the books please let the office know or see one of the PTA members in the playground. Christmas Fayre A raffle was organised by the PTA and we contacted local businesses to donate prizes. A big thank you to them and to the parents and carers for buying the tickets. Special thanks also to Emiras beauty, Smart Uniforms, Shama, Wetherspoons, Rices and Spices, Robbies fish and chips and Foxes biscuits for their kind donations. We also held a tombola at the Christmas Fayre which was very popular with the children. Christmas Shop/Trolley This is the shop that we opened for our children to purchase gifts for mums, dads, grandparents etc. The gifts were priced at 1.50 and the children enjoyed choosing their own gifts. We take the trolley to the Reception class and the Nursery so that they can choose their own gifts as well. The PTA bought and wrapped the presents. If you have any spare time and you fancy doing some wrapping nearer the time we are always grateful of any support. It's a fun couple of hours and it's amazing how much you can wrap in that time! Mothers Day Shop/Trolley Again this is another popular event that the PTA do. The gifts were priced at 1.50 and the children can buy for mums, step mums, grandmas and carers. The presents are wrapped but the children can choose the ones that they want to buy. Any help with wrapping is always appreciated! Fathers Day Shop/Trolley Again a successful event with the shop/trolley but this time for dads, step dads, and carers. Gifts were priced at 1.50 and the children can buy their own presents. Year 6 Leavers The PTA provided the year 6 leavers with their gifts and we donated funds to their party. The children enjoyed their disco and looked amazing in their party clothes. Summer Gala We held another successful raffle and joined the school out on the front field in the lovely sunshine and had a tombola stall and a bouncy castle. The PTA provided the school with a bouncy castle for the day for the whole school and the children had lots of fun!! The atmosphere was great! Seeing the children enjoying themselves. The weather was very hot and it was lovely to see lots of parents Events for this year Halloween disco Thursday 24 th October October Christmas Cards Christmas Shop December 2019 Valentines disco Date TBC (February 2020) Mothers Day Shop March 2020 Fathers Day Shop June 2020 Halloween Disco 2019 A huge thank you to everybody that helped make this a success. The ladies that decorated the gym and the dining room and also to the people who helped sell pop and crisps in the disco.
